Nature Conservancy India Solutions Private Limited (NCIS) is a subsidiary of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), one of the largest global non-profit conservation organizations. Established in December 2020, NCIS provides research, consulting, technical support, and advisory services to stakeholders in and outside India to promote nature conservation, biodiversity, and climate change solutions.
About the Role
The Program Lead, Landscape Restoration will drive TNC’s landscape restoration initiatives by offering technical expertise, strategic planning, and program implementation to restore degraded ecosystems while balancing environmental, social, and economic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Program Development
- Design and implement large-scale landscape restoration strategies (e.g., reforestation, regenerative land-use practices).
- Identify priority landscapes and develop actionable restoration plans.
- Align programs with global/national restoration targets (Bonn Challenge, UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, SDGs, etc.).
Technical Expertise and Advisory
- Provide guidance on restoration methodologies (agroforestry, native species reforestation, invasive species management).
- Integrate science-driven innovations, including climate-smart practices and nature-based solutions.
- Develop decision-support tools, including GIS and remote sensing for monitoring restoration efforts.
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnerships
- Build partnerships with governments, private sector actors, NGOs, and community groups.
- Lead multi-stakeholder processes for inclusive and participatory restoration projects.
- Represent TNC in high-level meetings, conferences, and forums (India and globally).
Capacity Building, Knowledge Sharing, and Mentoring
- Conduct training programs and workshops for TNC staff, local communities, and partners.
- Promote knowledge-sharing through case studies, publications, and best practices.
- Collaborate with research institutions to strengthen the evidence base for restoration.
Project Implementation and Monitoring
- Develop operational plans and oversee high-priority project implementation.
- Identify and secure funding from donors, government agencies, and private sector partners.
- Prepare grant proposals, concept notes, and donor reports.
Key Deliverables
- Comprehensive landscape restoration plans.
- Stakeholder engagement frameworks and partnership agreements.
- Monitoring reports tracking ecological, social, and economic outcomes.
- Capacity-building materials and training sessions.
- Policy recommendations and communication materials.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Forestry, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in conservation, ecosystem restoration, or sustainable land management.
- Experience leading large-scale, multi-stakeholder conservation projects.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong financial and project management skills.
- Familiarity with international frameworks such as REDD+, carbon markets, and the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in restoration planning tools (e.g., ROAM), GIS, and remote sensing technologies.
- Knowledge of ecological restoration principles, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable agriculture practices.
Desired Qualifications
- 12-15 years of experience in environmental conservation.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).
- Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners.
