NavGurukul is a not-for-profit started in 2016 by Harvard and IIT-Delhi graduates. It helps students from marginalised communities get aspirational careers through fully funded 18-month residential courses in programming, finance, business, and design.

So far, they’ve supported 1145+ students across 7 centres in India and placed 830+ in tech and non-tech jobs. Their name comes from ‘Nav’ (new) and ‘Gurukul’ (traditional learning system), and they mix modern, self-directed learning with old-style student-centred education.

They also run digital programs like:

  • Meraki – teaches English, typing, and coding to govt school and ITI students.
  • Zuvy – offers degrees (residential, online, and day boarding) focused on programming, problem-solving, and system design.

Roles

NavGurukul is at a pivotal moment. We are scaling both vertically and horizontally, and the opportunities ahead are massive. While we have made significant strides, we believe the impact we seek is still a million times bigger.

Since our inception, we have built a strong foundation: from reaching our first 2 crores in revenue in 5 years to scaling to 15 crores in the next 3. Our incubated initiative, Zuvy, hit 6 crores in just 2 years—demonstrating how the NavGurukul ecosystem enables rapid growth. Through our various programs, we are transforming education and livelihoods for marginalized communities, but we know we can do much more.

We are looking for a dynamic and visionary CXOs to lead either our residential program or the entire NavGurukul group, driving innovation, operational excellence, and scalable impact.

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience – You have founded, scaled, or led organizations—whether in startups, social enterprises, or nonprofits. You understand what it takes to build and sustain impactful initiatives.
  • Strategic Vision – You see opportunities where others see challenges. While NG’s core focus is empowering marginalized women through tech education, we want someone who can think beyond our existing framework and create transformative solutions.
  • Commitment to Impact – We seek a leader ready to commit a minimum of five years, ensuring long-term, sustainable change.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit – You are a creator and innovator, not just a manager. You will have the autonomy to launch and scale new initiatives that align with our mission.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities will significantly vary with the role - COO/CGO/CEO/CFO, and hence, we aren’t going to get into details of that here. As we will move forward with the process, and also based on your experience, we can come up with a more realistic set of expectations.

  • Lead & Scale Programs: Drive the strategic growth of either our residential program or the entire NG group, ensuring quality and scalability.
  • Identify & Incubate New Initiatives: Introduce new verticals that align with NG’s mission—whether in ed-tech, AI, digital literacy, or social entrepreneurship.
  • Enhance Operational Excellence: Streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ensure programs are delivering measurable impact.
  • Drive Fundraising & Sustainability: Leverage NG’s donor network, resources, and infrastructure to raise funds and secure long-term sustainability.
  • Team & Culture Development: Build and nurture a high-performing team that embodies NG’s vision and values.

Compensation

Being a non-profit organisation, our compensation is significantly different from what is offered in the for-profit sector. Our top leadership is generally at a 80-95% pay cut depending on the domain that they come from. This part of the JD is really not our strength, but we will do what we can 🙂
