The School of Environment and Sustainability (SES) at the Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS), along with its Long-term Urban Ecological Observatory (LTUEO), is dedicated to the sustainable transformation of human settlements. About the Role
IIHS is looking for a Project Manager for a project focused on the restoration and conservation of freshwater habitats in urban and peri-urban Bengaluru. This role involves field monitoring, laboratory analysis, GIS and remote sensing (RS) analysis, designing and conducting field experiments, and organising capacity-building workshops for stakeholders. The position is contractual for 11 months, with the possibility of renewal based on mutual agreement.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee and manage project activities, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Coordination: Work with multiple teams involved in the project and liaise with external agencies (government and non-government).
- Data Management: Compile, manage, and analyse data generated from the project.
- Reporting: Assist in compiling reports in the required formats.
- Workshops: Support the planning and execution of training workshops for stakeholders.
- Institutional Support: Contribute to IIHS activities in academics, research, training, and operations.
- Travel: May require travel within or outside the country for IIHS-related work.
Qualifications and Skills
Education:
- BE/B.Tech in Environmental Engineering.
- A Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, Agroforestry, or Agriculture is preferred.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in project management, including site implementation, technical and financial reporting.
- Experience in conducting capacity-building workshops.
- Experience in conducting rapid social surveys (preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Knowledge of GIS and RS analyses (preferred).
Language Skills:
- Fluency in English.
- Knowledge of Kannada is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Strong organisational, communication, and planning skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and manage team activities.
Terms of Employment
- Contract: 11-month contractual engagement, renewable on mutual agreement.
- Exclusivity: The selected candidate cannot take up any other professional assignments that may pose a conflict of interest with IIHS.
- Location: IIHS Kengeri Campus, Bengaluru, with potential travel across India.
- Performance Review: Subject to regular assessment and review as per IIHS norms.
