Two Brothers Organic Farms (TBOF) is a regenerative organic food brand founded in 2014 by fourth-generation farmers Satyajit and Ajinkya Hange after they left banking careers to return to their ancestral village of Bhodani in Indapur, Maharashtra. The company cultivates and sells traditionally prepared, chemical-free food while addressing soil erosion, farmer livelihoods and food traceability through cow-based regenerative agriculture.

TBOF combines soil-first farming with a farmer-centred supply chain, working with approximately 5,000 farmers across nine Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs). The company has trained over 20,000 farmers in regenerative practices and helped convert more than 1,000 acres to certified organic land.

Operating under the Amorearth brand, the company has grown from a 32-acre family farm to serving over 700,000 customers in 65+ countries, selling mainly through its own website, along with online marketplaces and offline retail.

Approach

TBOF’s farming is built around healthy soil. It uses native seeds, natural fertilisers made from desi Gir cow dung and urine, mulching and mixed cropping instead of monoculture. Farms are designed like “food forests", where different crops and trees grow together and support each other.

All products are processed in-house in Indapur using traditional methods such as hand-churned bilona ghee, stone-ground flours and wood-pressed oils. The company holds ECOCERT and NPOP organic certifications and follows FSSAI standards.

On the farmer side, TBOF offers hands-on support from sowing to harvest, helps with organic certification and pays about 30% more than market rates. Partner farmers earn an average net income of ₹60,000 per month, with incomes rising steadily year on year.

Bengaluru’s first ever Climate Action and Resilience Plan (BCAP) was launched on 27 November 2023 under the leadership of Shri DK Shivakumar, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka and Shri Tushar Girinath, Chief Commissioner, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. With the launch of BCAP, Bengaluru became the 3rd city in India to have a global standard climate action plan. The main objectives of BCAP are to mitigate Greenhouse Gas emissions from the city and build adaptation and resilience against climate change hazards in a collaborative manner, leading to inclusive outcomes for Bengaluru’s citizens.

To facilitate and spearhead implementation of BCAP as a multi-stakeholder driven collaborative process, a Climate Action Cell (CAC) has been constituted by the Hon’ble Chief Commissioner of BBMP as per the vide order no. CE/PR/216/2023-24 dated on 1/2/2024 (notification), under the Chairpersonship of the Special Commissioner, Forest, Environment, Climate Change Management wing of BBMP, Smt. Preeti Gehlot, IAS, with participation from all relevant stakeholder departments as representative members of the cell.

Fellowship Program

The CAC at BBMP is starting a program of ‘Fellows of Climate Action Cell’ from 2024, aimed towards capacitating the Bengaluru Climate Action Cell to carry out functions related to implementation of BCAP. We are looking for bright-minded young professionals passionate about climate change and civic issues to support the activities of the CAC with new perspectives, skills and innovation in solving real-life problems of Bengaluru.

The Bengaluru Climate Action Cell will engage 8 Fellows for a 12-month tenure to support the work and proceedings of the B-CAC. The 8 Fellows will be allocated different roles and responsibilities to support the various functions of the CAC. All Fellows will report on a day-to-day basis to a Project Coordinator and will work closely with Special Commissioner and Chairperson to submit deliverables aligning with BCAP priorities. All Fellows are expected to collaborate extensively across their cohort to support individual functions, to add value to the work and efforts of CAC, and to be model representatives of the CAC to internal and external stakeholders.

During the tenure, the fellows will get an opportunity to work on real problem-solving and interact with diverse stakeholders across research, academia, citizen groups, NGOs with rich experience and knowledge of working in environmental, climate change and citizen engagement. The fellows will be empowered to actively contribute to research and analysis, and communications on climate risks and vulnerabilities described in the Bengaluru Climate Action Plan. Role

The ICC seeks an Associate to support sourcing and curation of climate solutions for philanthropy (private and corporate philanthropy). Slam Out Loud

Program Overview for Food, Land and Water

WRI India’s Food, Land and Water program aims to inform India’s transition towards sustainable and resilient food and land use systems focusing on developing interdisciplinary nature-based solutions like landscape restoration, sustainable agriculture to mitigate climate impacts, enhance jobs and livelihoods and improve nutritional security. To catalyze systems, change with a focus on circular food systems in India, we also focus on developing equitable strategies to reduce food loss and food waste and mitigate climate impacts.

With broader systems change and food systems perspective, we work with diverse stakeholders like governments, businesses, civil society partners and farmer producer organizations to inform and develop land use strategies based on robust evidence and analysis to build the resilience of local communities to mitigate climate impacts, bridge capacity gaps, monitor progress, and inform a pathway to building a restoration economy for people, nature, and climate.

Role

WRI India’s Food, Land and Water program aims to inform India’s transition towards sustainable and resilient food and land use systems through interdisciplinary nature-based solutions such as landscape restoration and sustainable agriculture. To catalyse this transition through a systems change approach, we work with equitable strategies that can help India achieve its climate and development goals. Our work also includes developing collaborative strategies for reducing food loss and food waste, with a focus on circular food systems in India. With an interdisciplinary and intersectional lens, we work with diverse stakeholders including governments, businesses, civil society partners and local community groups for building a land-based restoration economy for people, nature, and climate in India.

We are looking for a Program Associate with a degree in remote sensing and GIS and at least two years of full-time, relevant post-study work experience to support the data collection, geospatial analysis, monitoring framework development, and report/technical note writing to facilitate implementation of large-scale collaborative landscape restoration projects in Madhya Pradesh. The position holder’s principal responsibilities will include strengthening the spatial research aspects of integrated natural resource management (INRM) by working closely with the Government of Madhya Pradesh and other implementation partners. This will support in identifying areas for high potential for landscape restoration within the pilot sites and correct application of the restoration interventions such as sustainable agriculture, soil moisture conservation, water resource development and tree-based interventions such as agroforestry, trees on bunds and boundaries, farm forestry, etc.

Responsibilities

Research: (80%)

• Collate multiple geospatial data related to natural resource management and conduct analysis to identify areas of high restoration potential within pilot sites/landscapes
• Utilize geospatial data to assess land use, vegetation cover, and hydrological features and prepare high-quality thematic maps for various INRM interventions considering climate resilience and sustainability focusing on forest, agriculture and water resources.
• Support Government of Madhya Pradesh and other implementation partners with geospatial insights for improved INRM planning (soil moisture conservation, water resource development, plantations, sustainable agriculture etc), and resource allocation.
• Generate reports, dashboards, and spatial visualizations of the ongoing and upcoming projects through GIS and remote sensing data and validate it through ground truthing and stakeholder inputs.

About the Role

Role: Monitoring & Evaluation Officer (2 Positions)
Location: Vidarbha & Ch. Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra

The role involves developing and implementing a comprehensive M&E framework, ensuring effective data collection, analysis, and reporting to measure project performance. The officers will contribute to research, assessments, and continuous improvement of project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Evaluation

• Develop and implement an M&E framework and reporting system to track project performance at all levels (outcome, output, and activity).
• Design and revise M&E tools and data collection procedures.
• Define and guide project indicators, targets, and performance monitoring plans.
• Collect baseline data and ensure systematic integration of quality dimensions into the M&E framework.

Data Management & Reporting

• Develop an automated information management system and dashboard for real-time project tracking.
• Collect, validate, and analyze project data to measure performance against indicators.
• Ensure data quality, reliability, and integrity through regular quality checks.
• Maintain and update the MIS platform to ensure easy access to M&E data.
• Assist the Regional Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Support compliance with reporting requirements and contribute to briefing materials on project performance.

Research & Analysis

• Coordinate and conduct thematic assessments and project evaluations.
• Analyze project progress, challenges, and lessons learned to guide implementation improvements.
• Conduct spot-checks, mid-term evaluations, and research studies related to project delivery.
• Extract key insights from monitoring and assessments for course correction.

Other Responsibilities

• Collaborate with WOTR’s head office in Pune to ensure adherence to M&E standards.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager within the scope of the role.

Education

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Sociology, Agricultural Economics, Development Studies, Rural Development, Anthropology
• OR a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Technology, Civil Engineering
• OR a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Management

Work Experience

• Minimum 3 years in M&E system design and implementation in the development sector.
• At least 2 years in research, evaluation design, reporting, and knowledge management.
• Experience in setting up and maintaining information and data management platforms.
• Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative data analysis using tools such as Power BI, Looker Studio, Tableau, and Excel/Google Sheets.
• Experience with SPSS, STATA is an added advantage.
